during a lifetime.

Join us for a unique 8-day Photography Workshop Cruise to Alaska, embarking from Seattle on Friday, August 30, 2013, and photograph historic places in The Last Frontier where Natives still fish and carve beautiful totems as they did before the prospectors came seeking gold and the trappers, pelts. Where mountains and glaciers meet the water and where eagles soar, bears roam, and whales abound.

We’ve been fortunate to obtain a great sailing date that will give us some of the longest days of the year, with hours of light extending into the evening– simply excellent for the kinds of pictures you’ll want to capture.

Many fascinating shore excursions are available, but don’t miss strolling the streets of the three historic coastal towns we’ll visit, each rich with photographic possibilities. Totem poles, Indian dancers, grizzled pioneers, historic Russian Orthodox churches with beautiful religious icons, gold mines and canneries, breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife– bears, eagles, whales, exotic seabirds and more. Take a half-day train ride on the White Pass & Yukon Railway out of Skagway and photograph some of the most magnificent scenery in the world as you traverse two tunnels, sky-high trestles, remote valleys and places with names like Bridal Veil Falls and Dead Horse Gulch.

One of the highlights of our voyage will be cruising the narrow waters of Tracy Arm to magnificent Sawyer Glacier where giant slices of ice weighing millions of pounds tumble into the water; their roaring splashes can reach hundreds of feet high as they become newborn icebergs. You’ll be up close-and-personal yet safe and sound and, after getting your shots, sip a martini (or two) in one the ship’s beautiful lounges Our last port of call will be at Victoria in British Columbia, an island city know for whales that cavort in the harbor and the stunning night lighting at Butchart Gardens, a world attraction.

Our ship will be the Solstice, a Celebrity Cruise Lines beauty. You’ll be delighted with her refined elegance, excellent facilities, and cordial staff. Solstice is an upscale ship that will exceed your expectations. Our schedule allows ample time for you to participate in her many shipboard activities or just relax on deck and photograph the scenery. You’ll enjoy the exhilarating fragrances in the air– the invigorating tang of the cold, salty sea and the pristine aroma of icy air currents that swirl down from snow-capped peaks and mix with heady wildflower scents from hidden mountain meadows before they reach the warmer air around you. It’s an olfactory delight you’ll remember forever.
